Behind the Scenes: OML hits The Raveyard

When Halloween comes around the OML team go full force with the fake blood and ghostly make-up! We turned OML HQ into our very own haunted house party covering the place with cobwebs, pumpkins and skulls. Thanks to the lovely people at The Vaults we all headed to the scariest party in London town, The Halloween Raveyard, which is held in the haunted vaults beneath Waterloo station - spooky! Team OML definitely had the freakiest Halloween ever!

Partying into the night in the pitch-black, smokey rooms and finally ending the night in The Dank Parish. The team pulled up a pew as a few of us stepped up to the alter to confess our sins before holding a funeral for our Visual Creative, Lou.

You know you’ve had a great Halloween when you end the night in a coffin!

And of course Halloween isn't just for getting dressed up, we all need somewhere to go to debut our scary selves. We've sourced some great recipes to get the party started...

Creepy Cocktails:

Black Widow Shot

  • 1 1/2 oz of Black Vodka,
  • 1/2 oz of chilled Cranberry Juice,
  • 1 chilled Cherry for garnish and Red Sugar Crystals for the rim of the glass.

Instructions:  Fill a small cocktail or shot glass with ice.  Rim the glass with red sugar crystals. Pour cranberry juice over ice, and gently layer black vodka over juice. Garnish with a cherry.

Zombie Slime Shooters Cocktail

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 1 oz Sour Apple Schnapps
  • 1 oz Coconut Rum
  • 1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix

For Blood Slim: 3 tablespoons of corn syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon of red food colouring

Instructions for Rim of glass: 1. Mix the corn syrup with red food colouring. Then dip the rim of the martini glass into the mixture, and spin the glass to coat it. Finally turn the glass upright and the blood will start to dip, leave aside for setting!

Cocktail Instructions: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, half filled with ice. Then shake well, pour into your martini glass and enjoy!

Bobbin' For Apples Punch

  • 2 1/2 cups of Apple Vodka
  • 1 1/4 cup of Apple Schnapps
  • 6 cups of Lemon-Lime Soda
  • Frozen Red Apples
  • 4 Red Apples (Sliced)

Instructions: You'll need a large punchbowl that you can mix the vodka, schnapps and soda in. Float the frozen apples in the punch and set aside the sliced apples for garnish. We also love to add gummy worms and bugs!

To cure your cravings after all those yummy drinks, we've a great recipe for caramel apples; it's a must!

Ingredients (makes 6 apples):

  • 6 Apples
  • 2 tablespoons of Milk
  • 1 (14 oz) package of individually wrapped Caramels, unwrapped
  • You will also need 6 wooden craft sticks

Instructions: Remove the stem from each apple and place the craft stick into the top.  Also butter a baking tray. Place the caramels and milk into a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 2 minutes. Once it's finished, stir once and set aside to cool briefly. Roll each apple in the caramel until it's well-coated and place on the baking tray to set.  For better results, place apples in the fridge to set for approximately 25 mins. For that little bit extra add some chocolate, nuts or sprinkles and enjoy!

Happy Halloween Lovers!

Inspiration: Frightfully Easy Halloween Looks

Halloween is probably our favourite night out of the year - sweets, dressing up and lots of horror movies, what's not to love?! Actually there is one thing: expensive costumes that we'll never wear again! Instead of wasting our hard earned cash on "proper" costumes, this year we're getting creative with items we love. Here are three costume ideas that are frightfully easy to recreate and are all based around key Oh My Love pieces that you'll actually wanna wear again without the fake blood and menacing looks.

Look One: Vampire Vixen with our leather-look midi dress and a dab of fake blood.

Look Two: Woeful Wednesday with our collar playsuit and tightly braided plaits.

Look Three: Bride's Revenge with our white maxi dress and some dark red roses.
